Actress Lindsay Lohan attends her progress hearing at the Airport Branch Courthouse in Los Angeles on October 19. Troubled US actress Lindsay Lohan was turned away from the LA county morgue Thursday, after turning up late for community service ordered as part of her probation, officials said. Troubled US actress Lindsay Lohan was turned away from the LA county morgue Thursday, after turning up late for community service ordered as part of her probation terms, officials said. The star apologized for being late, her latest no-show, saying on Twitter than she wouldn't do it again. Lohan had been scheduled to arrive for an 8:00 am start, a day after she was briefly jailed when a Los Angeles judge revoked the probation pending a hearing to determine whether she violated her terms. The 25-year-old turned at 8:41 am, and was therefore turned away for being late, said coroner's chief Craig Harvey. "She's welcome to come back, but she has to show up on time," he said. The star of "Mean Girls" appeared handcuffed in court on Wednesday, but was later released after paying $100,000 bail, and a probation violation hearing was set for November 2. Lohan apologized for being late on Twitter, writing: "With all the stress and pressure from yesterday and today, I've never been so happy to go to therapy!!!!"

"Also, I'm sorry for the confusion that I may of caused to those at the coroner's office. Won't happen again, now I know where to go! Thank you for your help," she added.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Stephanie Sautner said Wednesday that Lohan had failed to complete the 480 hours of community service as ordered for her jewelry theft conviction.
Most of the hours had been due to be completed at the Downtown Women's Center as ordered, but Lohan missed nine appointments. And when she did attend, Sautner said she sometimes only stayed for one hour, rather than the required minimum of four.
"There has been violation after violation," Sautner said. "Probation is a gift. It's a gift. It's not a right."
Lohan was sentenced to 35 days of house detention in May, as part of a plea bargain over the alleged theft of a $2,500 necklace from a jewelry shop near her home in Venice Beach.
Sautner ruled she had violated her probation for a 2007 drug and drunk driving offense when she allegedly stole the necklace on January 22.
Lohan -- once the promising child star of hit Disney movies "The Parent Trap" and "Freaky Friday" -- has a reputation for hard partying and has faced a series of legal tangles.

VIDEO REPORT: Apple Co-founder Steve Jobs dies at 56

Apple co-founder Steve Jobs died on Wednesday at age 56.
Founder and chairman of Apple Steve Jobs has passed away at 56. A creative genius and visionary icon are words often used to describe him. The revolution he made to modern technology is incomparable. Apple’s iPhone, iPad, iPod, iMac and iTunes were created under his direction.

In 2004, he was diagnosed with an unusual form of pancreatic cancer, where he had to get a liver transplant in 2009. On August 24, 2011, he stepped down as Apple’s chief executive due to his failing health. Earlier today, October 5, 2011, Apple’s board of directors released this statement saying Jobs had died of pancreatic cancer:

“We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today,” read a statement by Apple’s board of directors. “Steve’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve. His greatest love was for his wife, Laurene, and his family. Our hearts go out to them and to all who were touched by his extraordinary gifts.”

He is survived by his wife Laurene, their three children and a fourth child from a previous relationship.

A great quote by Steve Jobs is:
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

NEW Red Dawn remake to come out next year from FilmDistrict

PG-13, 1 hr. 54 min.
Directed by: Dan Bradley

Red Dawn (2011) now (2012)

A group of high-school teenagers are put on the front lines when their country is invaded by hostile forces in this remake of John Milius' 1984 war adventure. Second unit director Dan Bradley (The Bourne Ultimatum, Spider-Man 3) makes his directorial debut with this MGM film, scripted by Red Eye's Carl Ellsworth.

CASTING:

A remake of the invasion movie "Red Dawn" — with its villains now digitally modified from Chinese to North Korean — will finally hit American shores next year (2012).

The new version of the Reagan-era classic will be released in the U.S. by independent studio FilmDistrict, according to people familiar with the matter but not authorized to discuss it publicly. FilmDistrict is finalizing a deal with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, the studio that produced the movie in 2009.

In the original "Red Dawn," a group of teenagers in a Colorado town battle invading Soviet forces; in the remake, the invaders were changed to Chinese. But that decision turned the film into a hot potato.

After MGM emerged from bankruptcy in late 2009 and decided it wouldn’t release the movie, no other studio wanted to touch “Red Dawn” for fear of offending the government of China, a hugely important market in the increasingly global film business.

As a result, the movie’s producers last winter used digital technology and creative editing to change most of the invaders to North Koreans. (Staunchly communist North Korea is economically isolated and not a market for any American products.) Still, it took most of the year to find a distributor willing to take the movie on.

FilmDistrict Chief Executive Peter Schlessel declined to discuss “Red Dawn.” Given that final details are still being worked out, however, it likely won’t hit theaters until 2012.

The new “Red Dawn” cost about $60 million to produce. It stars Chris Hemsworth, who played the title character in “Thor,” and was directed by Dan Bradley, second unit director on the last two “Bourne” movies and the upcoming “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.”

FilmDistrict, which is backed by finance and production company GK Films, launched in April with the horror hit “Insidious." Its most recent release is the Ryan Gosling L.A. noir film, “Drive.”
